The path to an energy-efficient home – simpler than ever
At the GBC Connect Forum 2026, the crOss renoHome project was presented—an initiative that finally offers citizens a clear and practical path through the home energy renovation process. At the heart of the project is a digital guide, designed as a hands-on tool for anyone who wants to renovate their property but doesn’t know where to start. The guide is available at: https://energetska-obnova-doma.hr/
During a panel featuring crOss renoHome partners—“OSS: A simpler path to an energy-efficient home”—key questions were addressed: how to accelerate building renovation, how to provide proper support to homeowners, and how to remove barriers currently slowing the transition. The answer comes in the form of the One Stop Shop (OSS) model—a system that brings together information, advice, and services in one place.
The project provides:
- physical centers in Zagreb and Križevci
- an online platform as a central support hub: https://energetska-obnova-doma.hr/
GBC Connect Forum in Šibenik
The three-day GBC Connect Forum 2026 gathered more than 180 experts, industry representatives, and decision-makers, reaffirming its role as one of the key platforms for the development of sustainable construction in Croatia.
The focus was on the 9th Open Partner Dialogue, organized by the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, with an emphasis on green skills and competencies. The message was clear—without investment in knowledge, there is no successful transition.
Discussions covered:
- the National Building Renovation Plan and EPBD implementation
- the real impact of buildings on emissions through the LCA approach
- financing energy efficiency
- digital solutions such as the OSS model
Key European projects were also presented—INDICATE LIFE, SMAFIN Expanded, and crOss renoHome—covering the entire chain of change, from data and financing to direct support for citizens.
The forum further emphasized the importance of collaboration, showcasing best practices and awarding DGNB certificates to projects already implementing sustainable solutions.
Šibenik thus became a place where ideas turned into concrete steps.
Forum conclusion: without collaboration there is no change, without knowledge there is no transition, and without concrete solutions there are no results.
