Successful Workshop Held: Focus on Zagreb’s One-Stop-Shop for Home Renovation

Zagreb, May 27, 2025 – A workshop titled “Focus on the Zagreb One-Stop-Shop for Renovation – How to Effectively Inform and Motivate Co-Owners for Energy Renovation?” was held at the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts, as part of the CrOss renoHome project and the broader conference “Boosting Residential Building Renovations: European Examples and the Croatian Market.”

The workshop gathered 26 participants and focused on the challenges and solutions related to energy renovation of residential buildings, particularly in engaging and motivating co-owners in multi-apartment buildings.

As part of the panel discussion, Anamari Majdandžić presented the work of the Zagreb One-Stop-Shop for Integrated Home Renovation, highlighting experiences with citizens planning energy renovations—whether for single-family homes or multi-apartment buildings. Practical examples were presented, showcasing the administrative, technical, and communication support offered to citizens, as well as strategies for navigating the complex decision-making processes involved in collective housing.

Key Challenges and Conclusions

Throughout the discussion, several major challenges were highlighted: limited financial capacity of property owners, lack of information and technical knowledge, complexity of public subsidy calls, and legal-property issues. In addition, the market’s limited supply of service providers—despite high demand—was identified as another major obstacle.

The conclusion emphasized that early, clear, and tailored communication is crucial, especially in collective housing contexts. The Zagreb OSS model, developed through the CrOss renoHome project, was recognized as a good practice example that could be replicated in other locations.
